A More Powerful Approach To Advertising

The most obvious goal of an internet marketer is well…earn money online. So in order to make a living online, you have to sell something, and you do that by marketing stuff, which could be a product (physical or digital) or providing a service.

But first, people have to know that you have something to sell and of course they would want to know what it is that you are selling. That is where advertising steps in.

Alas, in these current times, there are plenty of people are doing the same thing. Many people are also selling the (more or less) same product or service. So what’s going to set you apart from the rest of your “competitors”? How are you going to convince people to buy from you instead of your competitors?

Many people sell stuff by advertising the wrong things about a product or service. It’s not the method which is at fault here, but the approach is.

If internet marketers ask themselves the right set of questions when it comes to describing a product or service, then they can have a very powerful advertising strategy. Something that the target market can relate with, therefore striking an emotional chord which in turn can be a very powerful motivation or call to action for customers to buy.

The following can help you to do just that:

A Deeper Benefit

Sure, everyone wants to know what your product can do or what your service can provide. But, many internet marketers make the mistake of just stating the obvious features of the product. What they don’t see (or bother to dig deeper and find out) is how it will benefit for those who buy it. How will it improve their lives? Or how can it makes things more convenient for them and such.

This is where you come in. It’s your job to find and highlight benefits a product or service it can provide for its buyers. Not just what the product can do but how it can actually be beneficial for your target market. Make it relate to them and it will instantly become a more valuable product or service in their eyes.

Trust

The numbers of people who are willing to buy online now have steadily grown throughout the years. But, there will always be some out there who are still skeptical when it comes to online transactions. Added to the fact that, they do not know you or your business, you first have to earn their trust.

One of the best ways is to give out hard, solid facts and the best way to back up these facts to use numbers or statistics. When facts are coupled with statistics, it can make a very powerful point when it comes to advertising. But of course, the information you provide must be the truth because there will be people who are going to verify it.

Know that once you earned a skeptic’s trust, you will have a very loyal customer on your hands. And that is the best kind of customer any kind of internet marketer could ever hope for.

And for people who have purchased the product or service you can also ask them for a review and ask how their purchased product or service helped improve their lives. You can learn many things which may not be apparent to you. Collect all these findings and use them as testimonial and then present it to other potential prospects. Testimonials are also a very powerful advertising tool.

Show In Action

Now for example, if you are a car salesman trying to sell a car to a potential customer, simply babbling all about the satisfaction driving the chosen car, how it handles, the horsepower, the throttle response, the quality of the interior so on and so forth just doesn’t mean much to your customers. At the end of the day, they are just words.

The only way to convince your customer is to let them actually sit in the driver seat and actually take it out for a spin. Only then they can experience and see what you mean…

So, when it comes to advertising something online, show the product or service in action. Offer a demonstration and allow your customers to see it in action. That way, they have a better idea of what the thing is about and what it can do. An audio AND visual experience is always a better one.

If it is some software, offer them a trial version. If it is a physical product, if it’s possible, offer them a sample. If it is a service, offer them a limited trial run. In short, SHOW them what they can expect out of the product or service, and if they always want more, they will certainly buy.

Advertising can sometimes be viewed as more of an art than an exact science. If your initial efforts do not yield the results that you desire, you have to take a step back, and change your approach. It may take some time until you eventually find the right one, but once you do, the time and effort you put in will always be more than worth it.
